Local cyclist in Worsbrough, Barnsley. Mostly doing visual mapping rather than data because a map is a visual thing for people to plan routes, like to the the party that data analysts don’t get invited to.

When mapping buildings please use Cadastral Parcels for the UK, it’s the only source of alignment accuracy available. All aerial views are distorted and mis-aligned, you need to look at a tall building and allow for the offset. I spend a good 15 minutes aligning aerial views before mapping using the nearest housing estate. The alignment also varies from area to area, there is no standard offset.

Cycle barriers, no difference between ones designed to slow you down and ones designed to stop you. Motorcycle barriers look right but don’t have the right name if you want to stop bicycles. I wish OSM could make a clear distinction between slowing and stopping barriers.
